Disappointed with new renovations … I’m sure space was needed for Administrative purposes, but it looked like that is all that was done and rest of the library suffered.
Actually very little of the space that was renovated was used for offices. The two office areas that were added house ten staff members who share computers and work space. The biggest change during the renovation was the relocation of the children’s area into what was the program room. While it gives children a place of their own to browse and read books, it is still a small area that can only accommodate six children during story times. The old children’s area is now a reference section with one table that can seat up to eight people. Higher shelves were added to hold more books, but it also is difficult for patrons to browse high shelves. The changes were necessary as a temporary fix to our space dilemma. We had planned to install a trailer to provide program space, but found that it was cost prohibitive to do so.
