Friends Foundation

The March 19, 2010, General Meeting of the Huntley Area Public Library District Friends Foundation was held in the meeting room of the library. In attendance were:

The meeting was called to order by Vice-President, Janis Ruffino. She welcomed everyone.

I. Director’s Report – Patrick McDonald
1. Ribbon cutting for new addition was very
successful. He showed the video taken of
ceremony. It is on-line if anyone wishes to
see it.
2. American Association of University Women
donated a limited edition pictorial book of
Eleanor Roosevelt’s life, written by her niece
and family.
3. The library made an application for grant for
$10,000 to add power doors at entrance, upgrade
water fountains and restrooms. Grant was
awarded!

II. Secretary’s Report – Frances Wilson
Reta Stohs made a motion to approve the minutes as
written

treasurer’s report

IV. Business:
1. Book Sale – Reta Stohs
June 5th – one day sale from 8:30a.m. to
12:30 p.m.
2. Corner Books Report – Janis Ruffino
a. Sales are going very well.
3. Surveys – Pamela Kampwerth
a. check for $3,640 is to be paid to
Foundation by UCLA.
We may be eligible for further surveys for
younger grouping.
4. Library Lovers – Pamela Kampwerth
1,635 chain links were counted! $1,000 will be
donated to library for Summer Reading Program,
to be divided between Youth Services, Teen and Children’s departments.
5. Expo – Janis Ruffino
a. Great Success. Jan Schadt took time to
visit other booths to familiarize them with
our group.
6. Golf Committee Update – mailings will be
prepared to be sent to businesses at Genevieve
Hochwarter’s home on March 24 at 10a.m.
a. Golf outing flyers and introductory letters
available at reference desk.
7. Library Workers Appreciation
a. Genevieve Hochwarter will purchase and
deliver catered luncheon to library staff
on April 13th.
8. Summer Reading Program
a. Request from the Youth Library Staff
for “junior friends” who assist with summer
reading program, for $300 to entertain
group of 60-80 at Stingray Bay at end of
summer.

9. Director Liability Insurance
a. General Liability has been purchased for all
Friends to cover events.
b. Dctor’s liability will also be purchased.
10. Chamber Activities – Janis Ruffino attended a
chamber dinner at Niko’s Restaurant.
11. Aprons are in to be used for Foundation events!

V. Comments/Questions: Jan Schadt suggested that
members visit local businesses with Golf Outing
flyers and introduction letters to see if they would
display and make donations.

VI. Pat Cornwell made a motion to adjourn.

Members were reminded of important upcoming events and meetings.
