The Storyteller
gives us a look at WWII and how it affects us today.  Sage, the main character, meets an elderly  man while in her “grief group,” named Josef Weber.  The two become friends, but it doesn’t last.  Josef asks her to kill him.  This book is suspenseful and I couldn’t put it down.

Sage Singer works for a bakery at night and avoids people during the day, concealing a scar and the guilt she feels from the accident that caused it. She forms an unlikely friendship with a 95-year-old man, who later shockingly reveals that he was a Nazi at a concentration camp and is asking Sage to help him die. The surprising request turns Sage’s world upside down, but eventually she learns more about herself, her family, and the nature and purpose of forgiveness.

Sage Singer, who is a baker, blames herself for her mother’s death with her scar as a constant reminder of the accident. She meets a man named Josef Weber and learns a dark secret about his past, the same conflicts in which her grandma Minka was involved. I liked this book because it was told from different perspectives and the plot was well-developed. I also liked the surprise ending and twists in the plot.
