Finance Committee Meeting of the

Board of Library Trustees

of the

Huntley Area Public Library District

May 17, 2017

 

 

The Finance Committee of the Huntley Area Public Library Board met in the Program Room at the Huntley Area Public Library District, 11000 Ruth Road, Huntley, IL 60142 on May 17, 2017.  Present were Chris Budzynski, Beverly Cannalte, Alissa Fewell, David Moore, Kathleen Pilat, Marjorie Smith, Library Director Frank Novak, Business Manager Loralei Getty, Head of Circulation and Outreach Services Pamela Kampwerth, Head of Marketing and Public Relations Leigh Ann Porsch, Head of Maintenance Sergio Ramos and resident Shannon McKibben.  The meeting convened at 6:01 p.m.

Pilat entered the meeting at 6:05 p.m.

FY17-18 Draft Working Budget:  The committee reviewed and discussed a draft of a working library budget for fiscal year 2017-2018, including library materials, payroll, benefits, operating, supplies, administration, and computer costs for fiscal year 2017-2018.  The committee also reviewed and discussed projected income through fiscal year 2017-2018.

McKibben and Fewell entered the meeting at 6:28 p.m.  Ramos entered the meeting at 6:35 p.m.

Interior Space Project Purchases:  Novak would like to accelerate the purchase of shelving and/or media sleeves in this fiscal year, using a surplus from this fiscal year’s budget.  This will make the project more financially manageable because the cost can be spread out over two fiscal years, instead of one.  The Finance Committee recommends purchasing shelving and/or media sleeves, in the amount of $31,000, using the surplus from fiscal year 2016-2017.

Logo Wear Purchase:  Using a surplus from this fiscal year’s budget, Novak would like to purchase logo wear for the library staff.  This would not be a uniform but for the staff to wear on special occasions such as the ALA Conference in June.  Novak is considering a polo shirt with the library logo.  The Finance Committee recommends purchasing logo wear for the library staff using the surplus from fiscal year 2016-2017.
