Kady breaks up with her boyfriend Ezra just hours before their world (a secret mining colony on Kerenza) is attacked by outside corporate interest BeiTech.  They manage to put their differences aside long enough to survive and escape, but they end up on different ships.  Kady finds herself on the Hypatia, while Ezra is conscripted into the military based on the Alexander.  The third ship in their fleet, the Copernicus, is inexplicably destroyed by the Alexander’s artificial intelligence, AIDAN, much to the horror of the survivors on the other ships.

With the help of another hacker, Kady uses her considerable skills to discover what is actually going on and attempt to save the remaining ships.  Is AIDAN malfunctioning?  What exactly is wrong with the refugees from the Copernicus?  How can they escape from BeiTech’s warship, the Lincoln, which is in pursuit?  Told through a variety of documents, communications, and logs, this dossier is presented to BeiTech in response to their request for any information about the events that took place on Kerenza.

The well-produced audio edition features an excellent cast of readers. Fast-paced and suspenseful.
