NOTICE

Library Board Vacancies

The Huntley Area Public Library District currently has two vacancies on its Board of Trustees. The library is seeking two library district residents to serve as the newest board members, each for a two-year term.

The library district serves a population of over 43,000 people. Geographically, the district includes all or portions of Huntley, Lake in the Hills, Algonquin, Union, Crystal Lake, Gilberts, Dundee Township, and Hampshire. A seven-member board of trustees, elected at-large from inside the district, acts as a governing board. Board members provide general oversight to the library director for high-level library matters.

The board holds its regular meetings on the third Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m., with special meetings and committee meetings occurring sporadically. While being a library board member is a rewarding experience, please be aware that Illinois law prohibits library board members from being paid.

The library’s current trustees will fill the vacancies by appointment. There is no election process involved. Once the two-year terms are over, the appointed board members must then be re-elected to remain on the board.

If you are interested in being a part of a dynamic community asset, please submit a resume and brief statement discussing, at a minimum, your reasons for wanting to serve as a library trustee to Frank Novak, Library Director, at fnovak@huntleylibrary.org or via post no later than May 27, 2025. Materials may also be submitted in person at the library. Please be sure to include your full name and residential address with your submission.

Thank you for your interest in becoming a library board member. We look forward to hearing from you!
