Job Type: Part-Time

Schedule:  24 hours per week (Must be able to work regular weekdays, some evenings, and some weekends)
Salary Range: $22 – $25 per hour DOQ

Overview:

The Recording Studio Technician provides day to day operations of all audio visual live services and audio visual recording services in the library’s Recording Studio. This position carries out technical and professional duties related to digital recording, broadcasting, streaming, podcasting, videography, and other similar functions. Library-focused IT-based work will be required occasionally.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Operates cameras, streams live, edits files, posts master files online (when needed), and edits audio files for broadcast, podcast, and other purposes

  • Gathers materials for upcoming programs

  • Provides voice work, when needed, for public-facing audio and video productions

  • Performs various on-air duties, when needed

  • Performs audio technician duties for events, library programs, studio recordings, and all other technical work in the Recording Studio

  •  Assists with library imaging and branding via the Recording Studio output

  • Assists staff with special production projects

  • Assists with design and installation of audio visual systems

  • Assists with preparation, collection, and restoration of archived audio visual materials

  • Provides assistance with upkeep, repair, and use of Recording Studio inventory

  • Performs other duties, as assigned

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency with various DAW platforms and audio production software including Logic, Sibelius, FL Studio, Pro Tools, and others

  • Proficiency with various video recording and editing software platforms including Adobe Premiere Pro, OBS Studio, Adobe Audition, and others

  • Proficiency with basic camera use and recording, including use of green screen technology

  • Proficiency with microphone use in various audio-visual applications

  • Ability to work in live event settings

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma and one year of audio-visual or related experience, or Associate’s Degree in a related field

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in both PC and Mac audio-visual editing platforms and production software

  • Bilingual language skills

  • Demonstrated ability to train others in the basic use of audio-visual equipment and software
