It’s October, so we read stories about trees and their changing leaves. We read several books about autumn, including “Bella’s Fall Coat”, by Lynn Plourde and sang “Leaves are falling” several times, while dancing with our own leaf. When amazing art is being done, you need to showcase it…so we had an art show! Kids were asked to bring in 1-2 items they made at Project Tween to share with library visitors. Project Tween is a monthly program geared for youth between 10-14 years old at the Huntley Area Public Library.

This month’s Pajamarama was the day after the eclipse, so we learned about the Sun. We read a few books about the Sun, including, “The Sun is my Favorite Star” by Frank Asch. Honk! Honk! There was a traffic jam at the library…for Miss Jodi and Miss Nora’s Drive-In movie in our program room! Our summer reading theme was superheroes, so this session of Animal Crackers Book Club focused on Teddy Roosevelt: Champion of parks and conservation. Clubbers, ages 7-10, received a copy of “Who Was Theodore Roosevelt?” and read some of the book together. Then they made an animal tracks quick guide and ate some yummy animal crackers!
