Jani and her sister Zosa are living on their own and trying to make ends meet when Jani learns that the Hotel Magnifique (a hotel that magically travels around to different locations) is in town and that they are picking up guests and hiring staff and entertainers. She hopes that she and Zosa can work as hotel employees, but when they interview, the hotel only wants to hire Zosa. Jani eventually forces them to take her, too, and thinks everything will be perfect, only it’s not. The magical contracts that bind hotel employees and guests have some alarming clauses. Like, employees forget everything about their lives before they started working at the hotel. For some reason, this doesn’t happen to Jani, but she has a long and dangerous journey ahead of her to figure out why. Very twisty plot! Some romance. Some dark elements. For high school teens.
