Reports to: Head of Public Services

Essential Job Functions:
  • May support home services including Library2Go, a delivery service for homebound library patrons and patrons living in care facilities.
  • Help cover other service desks if needed.
  • Attends library staff meetings and participates in job related continuing education opportunities.
  • Assists with clerical projects.
 Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of current library materials, practices, techniques and technology including the library’s ILS system, public computer management system, computer operating systems, and office applications.
  • Knowledge of reference and electronic resources, including online databases, digital collections, and apps.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to work and communicate orally and in writing, in an effective manner, with the public and staff.  Capacity to communicate effectively on the telephone.
  • Ability to type, to read written materials, to maintain files, to operate computers and other library machines and equipment.
In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, the following represent the physical and environmental demands of this position: this position requires time spent standing, walking, and sitting.  Lifting, pushing/pulling, and carrying objects up to 25 pounds is sometimes required. Climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting, and bending are sometimes required.  Repetitive movements of the hands and arms are sometimes required.  Audio, visual, and verbal functions are essential to performing this position.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Requires some college coursework and/or three years of customer service experience.  Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Public library experience is highly desired.
  • Must be able to work day, evening, and weekend hours.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle are required for Library2Go.
Schedule:

20 to 25 hours per week including a minimum of one evening shift a week on Mondays or Tuesdays, day shifts during the middle of the week, and alternating Fridays and Sundays.
