After careful consideration, the Huntley Area Public Library has decided to lower monthly borrows for hoopla services from 10 items per month to 5 items per month. Our limited budget cannot accommodate hoopla’s pay-per-borrow lending model at current levels . The change will take effect on July 31st.
Hoopla’s pay-per-borrow funding model is different than Libby by Overdrive or eRead Illinois Boundless. In Hoopla, patrons determine where the library budget gets spent directly with their checkouts. For each instant access title, the library is charged a fee by Hoopla. With Libby by Overdrive and eRead Illinois Boundless, the library consortium and its library members control library spending by the number of copies purchased and patrons wait in hold queues if all copies are checked out.
