No Sit Book Club – May 2022

We had our inagural meeting of the No Sit Book Club OUTSIDE and walked through the park that’s adjacent to the library while we talked about the books we’ve been reading. If you would like to join us in June, please register to attend. You can read whatever books you like and share your thoughts about them (not restricted to audiobooks). If the weather refuses to cooperate, we’ll have our discussion inside in one of … Read more

No Sit Book Club – February 2022

Happy almost spring! I was listening to an audiobook (A Master of Djinn) while working on my winter sowing project this past weekend – so my ears were full of strange crocodilian gods, ifrit, and djinn as I readied 65 or so containers with potting mix and seeds (these go outside now and act like tiny greenhouses – the seeds sprout when the conditions are warm enough, and I just have to make sure they … Read more

No Sit Book Club – January 2022

The library was closed for the month of January, so I stocked up on audiobooks prior to the closure. I consider it a serious problem if I don’t have a number of books + backup books to read. This past month I’ve been listening to audiobooks while I made breakfast and got ready for work (in addition to listening in the car). Here are a few: Scythe, by Neal Shusterman – This is the first … Read more

No Sit Book Club – December 2021

I spent a lot of time in the kitchen in December – holiday baking – and I also had to drive quite a bit more than usual for family and friend get togethers, so I finished several audiobooks. Here are some highlights! The Last Graduate, by Naomi Novik – This is the second book in Novik’s Scholomance series and continues the story of student Galadriel “El” as she continues her highly dangerous magical education. I … Read more

No Sit Book Club – November 2021

For November I had to switch to mostly inside audiobook listening and I did a lot of it while cooking, baking, and cleaning the house. Audiobooks and vacuuming go really well together if you happen to have some noise-cancelling headphones! <– Highly recommend! I still borrow audiobooks on CD for my car to listen to while I’m driving. Using Libby works well, too – I use the Libby app on my phone and listen wherever … Read more

No Sit Book Club – August 2021

I started the month of August off by breaking my left pinky toe – you wouldn’t think something that small would hurt so much! The doctor put me in a boot and my activity was limited for a couple of weeks, so I actually read more print books than listened to audiobooks this month. Here are a couple, though, that I did enjoy: Laziness Does Not Exist, by Devon Price – This book by Dr. … Read more

No Sit Book Club – October 2021

This month has been really busy and there’s been so much less daylight, too (boo). It’s about time to start hibernating (with a good book). I was distracted a little from audiobooks this month by a teen/tween graphic novel series called Space Boy, by Stephen McCranie. I borrowed the first book from another library and liked it so much I ended up buying the whole series for our collection (because I think everyone should read … Read more

No Sit Book Club – September 2021

It’s suddenly October! I have mixed feelings. I miss the long days of summer – it’s getting harder to find daylight hours to do things outside, whether that’s bike rides or kayaking or gardening or whatever. The sun either isn’t up when I am, or it’s going to bed. There’s still so much I want to do while the weather is nice. But I am also looking forward to FALL STUFF. Like apple orchards (and … Read more
