An adjusting eleven-year-old boy, Jingwen struggles to get used to his new home in Australia and deal with his annoying little brother Yanghao. Still trying to deal with the loss of his dad, Jingwen finds a way to cope by baking cakes with his father, just like his father used to make with him. With a heartfelt ending that will tug at your heartstrings. “Pie in the Sky” is a great pick.

This book really highlights the struggles of being a new person in a new area. Dealing with the loss of a loved one is especially hard and finding a way to find comfort is a great way to cope

For elementary school readers (grades 4-6).
