When her dog Good Boy goes missing, Snapdragon meets the local “witch,” Jacks, who found him and patched him up. She returns later with some baby possums who Jacks agrees to take in IF Snap helps care for them. Snap learns that Jacks is also a taxidermist of sorts – cleans up animal skeletons and then puts them back together (articulation) and sells them to museums and collectors. Snap ends up helping Jacks with the work and discovers that the witch part is true, too. Snap begins training under Jacks (turns out she has some witchy powers as well), makes a new friend (Louis), and finds out that she and Jacks have another connection as well (through her grandmother). A fine supernatural tale with some family history/mystery and a loveable collection of scrappy, diverse characters.
