Nix and her father are navigators – they can travel through space and time on their ship, The Temptation, if they have an accurate map which they’ve never used before. Captain Slate, Nix’s father, is desperate to find a way back to the time before his wife’s death – he’ll pay anything, do anything, for a map that will work. Nix is tired of his obsession and fearful that if he somehow manages the jump, it will erase her existence. After yet another dead end, they return to Honolulu, Nix’s birthplace, where both face temptation and must struggle to embrace or discard their dreams. Set at sea and in lush Hawaii just before its annexation, and with a rich cast of characters (both lovable and not-so-lovable), this is a historical time-traveling adventure, and a love story.
