This tells the story of survival during a time of despair. This book represents the horrors that were subjected upon so many innocent lives during the Holocaust.

Narrated by Eliezer, this story follows the life of a 12-year-old boy who has to endure the hardships of the Holocaust. They were treated with unimaginable cruelty and harsh conditions. I liked this story because it was really eye opening to what the Holocaust was like, as it was written by someone with firsthand knowledge of the experience.

* * * * Stars (Great!)
This book is really sad and difficult to read, but it is so good and you get a lot out of it. It is especially hard to read the parts where Nazi’s dehumanized him so much that they made him watch people getting hanged otherwise he would get hanged himself. It is hard to grasp the fact that this happened to a real person. I can only imagine how difficult it was for him to go through all of this physical and mental torture and losing his family members. Even though it is a sad book to read, I am glad that he was able to share is story with us because I got a lot out of it.
