“Our Violent Ends” is the end to the duology that began with “These Violent Delights”. “Our Violent Ends” is set in 1920s Shanghai, and it picks off where it left off with Roma Montagov and Juliette Cai. They are both heirs to rival gangs—the Scarlet Gang and the White Flowers. As the mysterious contagion continues to spread across the city, Juliette and Roma’s situation becomes more dire. With political tensions from the Nationalists, Roma and Juliette have to find an end to this contagion as soon as possible. Now, Juliette and Roma must uncover secrets that challenge everything they think about themselves and their families while protecting their hearts from each other.
“Our Violent Ends” kept me guessing until the very end. Chloe Gong provided a satisfying end to the “These Violent Delights” duology. The plot line is very interesting and kept me the on edge of my seat. For middle and high school readers + adults.
