On December 20, 2010, teens at the HAPL decorated mini graham cracker houses to take home for the holidays. We had some VERY creative designs and designers and a delicious time was had by all!
Rebecca Huston, henna artist from Heathen Ink (Summit, IL), returned to the Huntley Library in June of 2010 to share the history of henna body art with area teens. All participants went home with a temporary henna tattoo (lasting around 2 – 4 weeks), and information about how to create henna art of their own. Some of the teens even designed and applied their own tattoos!

The Huntley Library’s Zombie Prom took place on October 29, 2010. Attendees were able to give themselves and other prom guests zombie makeovers. When everyone was properly zombified, we took prom pictures! Prom favors featured miniature disco balls and bloodied corsages (which the teens made themselves). The teens (and the Young Adult Librarian) tried to learn how to dance Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” but even the slow version had them confused and out of breath. Teens … Read more

April was National Poetry month! We asked teens in grades 6 – 12 to get in touch with their inner poet and write a book review in the form of a haiku (5 syllables – 7 syllables – 5 syllables) for a chance to win a prize! They were able to review fiction, non-fiction, comics, graphic novels, manga, and audiobooks. Our prize winner was Sumbul S.! You can see the winning entry and other entries … Read more
