General Information
Four (4) four-year Huntley Area Public Library District’s Board of Trustees seats will be filled at the consolidated general election on April 6, 2027. Trustee candidates must be residents of the Huntley Area Public Library District.
Petitions may be circulated for signature from August 25, 2026 through November 23, 2026. Courtesy candidate packets are available at the library’s Information Desk.
The filing period runs from 9:00 a.m. November 16, 2026 through 5:00 p.m. November 23, 2026. Completed packets can only be accepted during this time. Please submit these packets at the Huntley Area Public Library’s Information Desk during these operational hours:
Monday – Thursday: 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Friday – Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Petition Signature Requirements: The minimum number of valid signatures needed is 50. Candidates should consider exceeding the minimum number of signatures by a comfortable margin, just in case some signatures on their petition sheets are challenged and invalid. Petitions may not be circulated for signature prior to August 25, 2026.
Election Information: Candidates should consult the State of Illinois 2027 Candidates Guide and the 2027 Abbreviated Election Calendar for all information regarding becoming a Public Library District Board – Trustee Candidate.
