Rachel and Henry were best friends for years and just when Rachel decided to declare her love for him, pretty, perky Amy came along and swept him off his feet, but was wrong for him in so many other ways. Rachel moved away and successfully put Henry out of her mind and started dating someone else, but a few years later she returns to her hometown – a changed person after her brother drowns – and finds herself falling for Henry all over again. Much of the action takes place in Henry’s family’s bookstore (Howling Books) – specifically, in the Letter Library, where people leave letters and annotations in the books in that collection for other people. Lots of love letters. This is a perfect little romance for readers who love quirky, prickly characters, literary references, and happy endings. Funny, tragic, and beautiful. You might cry. I did.
