The Bunnybirds exist in a joyful state where nothing really seems to bother them. This isn’t really true, but that’s the facade they are supposed to project – especially their Princess. But when other members of the flock start disappearing and the Princess Aster starts having prophetic dreams about what’s happened to them, it’s hard to be joyful. When the King disappears, Aster is determined to find them all. In a very gutsy moves, she asks the dragons for help. They laugh her off, but an exiled Bunnybird, Carlin, hears her pleas and offers to accompany her on her quest. It will take them out of the safety of their home, down below, and into the unknown, but their adventures allow them to meet a new friend (a Sand dog named Feet!) and find the courage to face the challenges and save the flock! The Bunnybirds also learn an important lesson along the way about expressing their true feelings. Truly charming and sweet and the illustrations are adorable. These are exactly what Bunnybirds would look like if they existed beyond the pages of this graphic novel. Readers who enjoy this will be pleased by the final pages, which indicate there may be a sequel on the way! For upper elementary, middle, and high school readers (ok, adults, too).
