* * * Stars (Pretty good)

Sadie has always looked after her little sister Mattie, but when their mother leaves them on their own, Mattie falls into a deep depression that only lifts when she finds out where their mother went. She becomes obsessed with finding her and going to her and it causes a lot of friction between her and Sadie. When Mattie attempts to hitchhike after their mother, she winds up dead. While the police have no leads, Sadie is pretty sure she knows what happened and begins her own search for the perpetrator. The story alternates between Sadie’s point of view, a podcast about her, and the man who is researching her story. Sadie’s story is suspenseful, disturbing, and heart-breaking. For high school teens.
