Upgrade – book review

Science Fiction
* * * * Stars (Great!)

After a near apocalyptic event, the world really cracks down on any sort of genetics research and technology. Logan Ramsay, whose mother (renowned scientist) was ultimately responsible for the Great Starvation, has become an agent committed to stomping out the illegal genetics black market. During a sting, he’s caught in a blast and infected with a gene-altering virus that essentially upgrades him to a smarter, more powerful version of himself. Unfortunately, his agency now views him with suspicion and locks him up pending further investigation and testing. Logan will have to escape in order to find the people who manufactured the virus, and learn more about their intentions. This is a highly suspenseful and engaging read for those who enjoy skating on the edge of scientific possibility. Can we change people to act in the best interests of our world? Should we? Older teens may enjoy. Published for adults.
