Tweens met a live Blanding’s turtle and learned about this species as they sketched their subject. Check out their sketches and how much the turtle liked hanging at the library! Art instructor, Christine Thornton, returned this month to guide adults and teens through the process of creating beautiful watercolor butterfly paintings. See their work below!
The Huntley Library partnered with Morkes Chocolates to offer candy-making classes to teens this summer (based on the summer reading theme “Dig Into Summer”). Teens created candy terrariums filled with candy mud, dirt, rocks, worms, plants, and imaginative creatures that they sculpted themselves and dipped in chocolate! Creative and delicious. Teens dropped in to challenge one another to games of ping pong in the library’s program room. Our tables were a bit undersized, but we made it work with adjustable nets and bodies!
Teens created a free-standing dinosaur out of cardboard and other materials. Templates were provided or they could create their own. Enjoy the photos!
Our popular henna event/artist is back! Rebecca Huston from Heathen Ink Tattoo returned to decorate area teens with temporary, henna tattoos. Participants also learned how to use the henna applicators to create their own designs. Photos are from two sessions, one in June and one in July.
