Meet Barbara Gordon (daughter of Commissioner Gordon in the Batman comics) as a teen hacker who is paralyzed from the waist down after being shot, and ends up in the Arkham Center for Independence for therapy/rehabilitation. While there, she becomes suspicious of the Center’s proprietors and begins looking into the files of several patients who suddenly disappeared. Did they move on, or did something more nefarious befall them? Barbara rediscovers her passion for puzzles and dusts off her hacking skills to get to the bottom of this mystery, eventually becoming the Oracle. Batman comics fans may be familiar with Barbara Gordon (as either the Oracle or Batgirl) – I wasn’t. Still, her origin story is engaging, and her sleuthing skills aren’t terrible. A quick read.
