Maureen and Francine are identical twins who are starting 6th grade. Although they’ve spent all of their lives together up until now, on the first day of school it becomes clear that Francine wants to reinvent and distance herself from Maureen and their group of friends, which really hurts Maureen’s feelings. Francine has always been more outgoing and comfortable in social/public situations, and Maureen has always been seen as “the smart twin.” After a series of unfortunate events lead Maureen to discover that Francine and their parents have been keeping secrets from her, she decides to run for student council president – in direct competition with her sister. Soon the sisters are outright fighting – that’s new, too! Will they be able to repair their friendship and ease tensions at home? And who will win the vote? A classic tale of sibling rivalry, twins, and sisterhood. Fans of realistic graphic novels (like Smile) will likely enjoy this offering.
