If you like a great detective novel with many twists and turns, I would recommend Breaking the Dark by Lisa Jewell. The book revolves around a detective and her struggles with her personal and professional life. The antagonist in this story is a woman who is power-hungry and craves to remain in power forever. The steps she takes and the way she pushes herself past her limits play a significant role in the story, adding into the part of twists and turns throughout the novel.
I loved this book because it was such a interesting novel. The suspense built throughout the story, along with cliffhangers, kept me curious and wanting to continue reading. Although I loved this novel, I felt like the last couple of chapters were a bit rushed. Despite this, Breaking the Dark is an interesting novel that keeps readers engaged and excited. Published for adults, but high school teens may also enjoy.
