Michelle Nichols from the Adler Planetarium visited the library and presented her talk on the planets in our solar system to an enthusiastic group of teens and adults. We love Michelle’s passion for the stars! Here are a few photos from the event, but we highly recommend catching Michelle in person, if you can!
We were all about BUGS at Pajamarama! We read Bugs Galore by Peter Stein, danced with shakers and made our own bug creations. If you like bugs (and even if you don’t!), check these out!
If you build it, they will come! We invited babies 1-3 years-old to come and share their building skills. They joined us for socializing and fun times playing with blocks, boxes and learning spatial awareness. See the smiles and some of the excitement from the event.
Teens learned how to fly and steer kites on a particularly blustery afternoon – we had 20mph+ winds at times! It was challenging with some of the kite designs, but participants had fun, and our instructor, Eric, was kept busy running back and forth as he helped people get airborn again. Build a giraffe, camel and lion, oh my! Miss Melanie challenged kids with the Gigi Blocks and they accepted and had fun while working together. We can’t wait to see what they do next. Roar!!!
Remember Perler beads? We got a little nostalgic for our childhood and brought out these fun, fusable, plastic beads. You can make pretty much anything with them! Teens tried out some of our example patterns and came up with their own designs. Check out what we made below:
Teen participants learned how to make soap the easy way using the melt and pour method. Here are some of their beautiful (and fragrant) creations!
Woohoo! Once a year we have a party for the children who read over 1,000 books before kindergarten. Kids decorated hats, enjoyed a treat, and posed for pictures.
