Minutes of the Regular Meeting

March 19, 2025

 

 

 

Call to Order: A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Huntley Area Public Library District was held in Program Room 3 at the Huntley Area Public Library District, 11000 Ruth Road, Huntley, IL 60142 on March 19, 2025. President Budzynski called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.

Attendance:

Trustees Present: Chris Budzynski, Sandy Domagalski, Stephanie Duncan, Shannon McKibben, Leslie Threadgill-Smith, and Stephanie Weil

Trustees Absent: Katie Kunde

Library Staff Present: Frank Novak, Library Director, Loralei Getty, Business Manager, and Lisa Rossi-Moser, Head of Programming

Visitors Present: Vito Benigno, Linda Benigno, Jan Kargol, and Pamela Kampwerth.

Pledge of Allegiance: President Budzynski led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Public Comments: There were no public comments.

Secretary’s Report: McKibben motioned, Domagalski seconded that the Board approve the minutes of the Regular Meeting held on February 19, 2025 as presented. All Ayes. No Nays. Motion carried.

Financial Reports and Checks: McKibben motioned, Duncan seconded that the Board approve the checks and financial report for February 2025 as presented. Roll call votes were: Budzynski-Aye; Domagalski-Aye; Duncan-Aye; McKibben-Aye; Threadgill-Smith-Aye. All Ayes. No Nays. Motion carried.

Monthly Income/Expense Report (Discussion): 4000-60 Developer Donations is at 300%, 4000-80 Interest Income is 1094%, and 7600-10 Auto Mileage is 153% of the FY 24-25 budget through February 2025. Check #31537 payable to Three Bees Honey Farms, LLC for $200 is for the favor at the Volunteer Appreciation Party.

Library Director’s Report: Presented by Novak. There will be a tax extension presentation at the April Regular Board Meeting. The library was absent from the Huntley Community Expo on March 15, 2024 because it coincided with the Friends Foundation book sale and it’s difficult to communicate with the attendees due to the volume of the live entertainment. Novak met with the Village of Huntley to discuss the outdoor story time area. The permit will be resubmitted to the village. Novak reminded board members to complete their Statement of Economic Interest and submit it to the McHenry County Clerk.

Stephanie Weil entered the meeting at 5:37 p.m.

Committee Reports:

Policy: There was no report.

Finance: There was no report.

Facilities: There was no report.

Friends’ Liaison: Presented by Rossi-Moser. The Friends Foundation raised over $1,600 at the March book sale. Four people became Friends Foundation members. The next general meeting will be on March 21, 2025. Culver’s Fundraising Night is scheduled for April 7, 2025.

New Business: There was no New Business.

Old Business: There was no Old Business.

Upcoming Dates: The next Regular Monthly Board Meeting of the Board of Trustees will be Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at 5:30 p.m.

Board Discussion: A local journalist approached Threadgill-Smith for an interview about the library. Threadgill-Smith requested the article be postponed by one month to be able to include information about the upcoming summer reading program. The Northwest Herald published an article regarding the State of Huntley and mentioned the Huntley Area Public Library District.

Executive Session: There was no Executive Session.

Adjourn: Threadgill-Smith motioned, McKibben seconded to adjourn the meeting at 5:45 p.m. All Ayes. No Nays. Motion carried.
