Minutes of the Special Meeting
June 10, 2026
Call to Order: A Special Meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Huntley Area Public Library District was held in the Huntley Conference Room at the Huntley Area Public Library District, 11000 Ruth Road, Huntley, IL 60142 on June 10, 202. President Threadgill-Smith called the meeting to order at 5:02 p.m.
President Threadgill-Smith led the meeting in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Attendance:
Trustees Present: Linda Benigno, Sandy Domagalski, Katie Kunde, John Schmelzer, Leslie Threadgill-Smith, and Stephanie Weil
Trustees Absent: Jerry Reedy
Library Staff Present: None
Visitors Present: Alex Todd
Public Comments: There were no public comments.
Executive Session:
Kunde motioned; Benigno seconded for the Library Board to convene an Executive Session at 5:07 p.m. under the exception of the Open Meetings Act ILCS 120/2(c)(3) for the purpose of selecting a person to fill a public office, as defined in this Act, including a vacancy in a public office, when the public body is given power to appoint under law or ordinance, or the discipline, performance or removal of the occupant of a public office, when the public body is given power to remove the occupant under law or ordinance. Roll call votes were: Benigno-Aye, Domagalski-Aye, Kunde-Aye, Threadgill-Smith-Aye, Schmelzer-Aye, and Weil-Aye. All Ayes. No Nays. Motion carried.
Domagalski exited Executive Session at 5:10 p.m. and reentered at 5:12 p.m.
Jim Deiters entered Executive Session at 5:13 p.m.
Weil exited Executive Session at 5:56 p.m. and reentered at 5:57 p.m.
Executive Session was paused at 6:54 p.m. and unpaused at 6:59 p.m.
The Board interviewed semi- finalist candidates for the Director vacancy, deliberated and selected finalists
Domagalski motioned; Benigno seconded to exit Executive Session. Roll call votes were: Benigno-Aye, Domagalski-Aye, Kunde-Aye, Threadgill-Smith-Aye, Schmelzer-Aye, and Weil-Aye. All Ayes. No Nays. Motion carried.
The Board exited the Executive Session at 8:05 p.m.
Board reconvenes Special Meeting at 8:05 p.m.
Adjourn: Weil motioned; Kunde seconded to adjourn the Special Meeting. All Ayes. No Nays. Motion carried.
Board adjourned Special Meeting at 8:06 p.m.
