Work to begin on Library’s Drive-Up Book Return on Monday, May 16, 2022

We are happy to announce that work will begin on the library’s drive-up book return on Monday, May 16, 2022. Removal of the drive-up book return will be the first step of a much-needed height adjustment to make it accessible for most vehicles. Following the removal of the book return, some minor construction will take place on the drive-up window and lane. During this time all drive-up window services and book return will be closed.

Huntley, IL – The final stages of the Huntley Area Public Library’s two-year building program are taking place as 2021 ends. Parts of the collection are being relocated, new equipment is getting set up, staff are moving into their new spaces, and the countdown is on to explore your FRESH, new library.

Despite the COVID-19 situation, the library’s construction project continues to move forward. Gilbane Building Company, the library’s construction management firm, is following all recommended guidelines to ensure that members of the trades, staff members, and the public are safe while work is performed. Not Your Typical Monday — Or What We Like to Call, Trashing the Trailers

It’s not a typical Monday at the Huntley Area Public Library. The day usually begins with a cup of coffee and a quick recap of what we have going on this week. Not today. Today on a rather gray, rainy morning, the construction crew was hard at work demolishing the temporary trailers that used to be the Children’s Area of the library and the program room.
